We're Thankful

Image
This time last year we were all hit with some hard news of Bel's cancer. It has been a hard year for her. And yet, through it all she's smiled and remained positive. We're so thankful and blessed that she beat the cancer. It really is a miracle that her body had a complete response to the chemo treatments. She's cancer free. That's definitely something to be thankful for.  She's doing so well now. Looking good and healthy! Her hair is growing back. She doesn't like having it short but she's happy to have hair again. I say she rocks short hair pretty good! Chris and Bel went on a cruise. It was supposed to be to the Bahamas but due to a hurricane they were routed to Mexico instead. I'd say by the looks of this picture they still had a wonderful time.

First Cavity

Image
Lindsey's dentist found a teeny tiny cavity on a back molar. He said that it wasn't because she wasn't cleaning well enough, he can tell she is. It's because of the way her tooth is so it was susceptible. She was NOT happy to get it filled. She'd never had one before and was very nervous to get it done. I didn't go back with her because I figured I'd make it worse if I were there for her to cry to. The nurse came out and told me Lindsey was very nervous and if I was ok for her to have the gas. I said sure. I was surprised to get a text message from Lindsey a bit later.  She sent me this picture of her! She looks like some type of alien. She thought it was funny too, that's why she sent it to me. She did amazing! Of course. I'm so grateful for our good dental insurance so we can ensure our kids get the care they need to be healthy and pain free from things that we can prevent. I love this girl. She's braver and stronger than she thinks. I&#

Cub Scouts

Image
Aidan's now 8 and right in Cub Scouts. He's so excited to be in it. He's happy to go off to the church every Wednesday afternoon. I worked with him at getting everything completed for him to earn his Bobcat.  At pack meeting. He's pinning mom's bobcat pin on me.  Then the cub master gives some dialog and for each color I paint it on a specific place on his face. Essentially he gets what looks to be war paint. :) Then he paints one white stripe down my nose. He and Dax both earned their Bobcat awards.  Way to go Aidan! I hope he has a drive to get things completed so I don't have to hound him to see what he needs to get done like I do with Lindsey. hahaha

Aidan's 8th Birthday

Image
For Aidan's 8th birthday we threw him a Nintendo Mario themed party. I had to use Pinterest for ideas to create party games.  Friday September 2nd: I made a Goomba and Ghost Stomp. I put golden chocolate coins in the balloons, blew them up and Daphne would draw the faces on them for me. All my kids were still at school or volleyball practice so I appreciated Daphne giving her time to help me out. Naomi helped also by blowing some balloons and I'd tie them off for her. I rented a Mario themed bounce house/slide combo. It was supposed to be delivered September 3rd an hour before the party but because they had so many deliveries that Saturday they called me Thursday to ask if they could deliver it Friday evening. I wasn't going to be charged anymore than my 6hr rental so I said sure!  The kids got lots of time to play on it by themselves and with the neighbor kids. It turned out that they didn't come pick the bounce house up until about 6pm. I paid for 6 h
