Cousins

Lori had her baby girl May 22. Such a doll. I loved seeing Lindsey with her, the oldest grandchild with the youngest. We didn't get to see her for a while after she was born due to Covid. Wanting to make sure everyone is healthy. We're so blessed this little girl is healthy and came into our family.

Father's Day 2020

Happy Father's Day to the best father my kids could ever ask for. Very patient and loving and the kids love his humor. They love to play around and joke. Jaime has similar interests in the kids including Transformers, Marvel Universe, cars and others. I'm grateful to have him by my side to parent with. When I think he can't be any more helpful he somehow finds a way to be. His work definitely doesn't go unnoticed.  It's been years since I've made stuffed French toast so I decided to make it for Jaime for breakfast. I like to dress up the table and use nice dishes for special meals.  Lindsey's card she made for Jaime was so cute. He is a fun guy.  I had a good moment with Lindsey today. We've had quite a few lately. I'm not going to pass up these opportunities. She has such a big heart! I love her so much. I can only hope something I say in our conversations will be of some benefit to her as I know she will be on her own before I know it.

Sounds of Summer

It's official, the 2019-2020 school year has ended. Not gracefully but everyone is happy to be done with zoom school. There were many things the kids missed out on...field trips, sports, dances, school events, etc due to the last three months of school being done at home with virtual lessons. I've got to hand it to them, they never complained and finished the year out like champs. Lindsey made the year memorable by getting her license, getting into CBC running start, and maintaining her 4.0 GPA. Olivia totally opened up this year and became quite the social butterfly and rocked out her GPA of 3.8. She will be in high school this fall. Aidan and Tyler were bummed to finish the year via online and video but they amazed me at how they would log on each morning and get right to work. They both received notice of being in highly capable classes now. They're getting too smart for me. Aidan said it's weird knowing he will never go to his school again since he will be attending

On to Middle School

I can't believe  this little guy will be in middle school. I asked him how he felt knowing he'd never go to this school again. He said kinda sad. He's been at Maya Angelou Elementary since kindergarten and next fall he will he will be in the brand new middle school.  Congratulations Aidan! Elementary school grad on to middle school!

We took the kids on a walk. Jaime and I have been walking a lot more. We usually go on Sundays but now we go many other evenings. Because so much is shut down we see many families out walking as well. The kids aren't always thrilled with going on walks but when they're finally out they see to be glad to be out.  Tyler soaked up his time playing Transformers with his dad. Definitely one of the perks of being home more is the kids have more dad time. Tyler loves to talk about transformers with Jaime. He tries to talk to me about them but I don't know much so it's more me just listening and acting like I know how exciting it is to Tyler. But Jaime likes to talk about them with him. He knows the classic transformers that Tyler is really into right now.

Time with Lindsey

Lindsey needed to get out. She'd been struggling with having to be home so much, not being able to be with friends, not being able to go to school. It is waring on all of us. We want life to be normal again. Not having to mask up everywhere we go. Kids want to be in school where they can learn from others, ask questions when they arise, get help on assignments at the time they come across a problem. I think it's all been overwhelming for Lindsey. On Monday I asked her what she needed. I said if you need to get out then go drive somewhere! I said you can. She said she wanted to go to the water. So we went to the river and walked along the pathway. It lifted her spirits immensely.  This girls survives on sunshine and bodies of water.  We thought the clouds looked like we were under water. Looked like rolling water above us.  Lindsey had a forensic science assignment. She had to make blood spatters from different heights. The girls both enjoyed the experiment. I liked watching the
