Birthday Surprises

Image
My Dad's birthday was January 5th. There was so much going on before then with the holidays and the new year starting that we didn't get to do anything for his birthday other than the usual birthday messages and phone calls. Mom decided to have a surprise party for him on January 19th. Emily called me up a week before and said that she was thinking of coming to surprise Mom and Dad. The plan was for her to stay the night at our house Friday night the 18th.  Well I jumped in on this band wagon of surprise and asked Darin and Christy to come as well. And since Mom's birthday is January 27th we decided to make the party be for Mom as well and have a cake for her and one for Dad. I told Mom I'd bake Dad's cake so he wouldn't see it and know she was planning a birthday dinner for him. Perfect. Friday the 18th I baked a german chocolate cake for Dad and a cherry chip for Mom.  Emily and her kids arrived around 6:30. Saturday the 19th Darin and Christy got h

Sewing projects

Happy to have a sewing machine. Here's just a bit of what I've been able to do... A Skirt for Lindsey Ties for the boys for Bel's wedding. Isn't he just the cutest ring bearer! Fleece pants for Tyler. Kid loves them. He'll sleep in them and want to wear them the next day. An I Spy bag.

Tickles his fancy

Aidan has started a little game. When I would get him dressed I'd ask where his hands were when I was putting his shirt on. Then I'd pull his hand out or he'd push it out the sleeve and I'd say, "There it is!" He thought it was hilarious. Well, just last week he was wearing a long-sleeve shirt and started hiding his hand in his sleeve and then push it back through and be as happy and excited as if he had no idea where the hand was hiding. He kept doing it over and over so I went to get the camera and of course, I could barely get him to do it again he was so interested in the camera. At least I was able to get him to do it a couple times so you get the jist of his joke. (I found I never did post this blog post. I didn't get a picture to go with it so I never posted it. But I wanted it to be remembered as something that Aidan did when he was nearly 2 years old. It was the cutest thing ever.)

Tyler has always liked to look at himself making different faces in the mirror. I've caught him numerous times doing this in the past two years. I wonder if that's how he was able to express his feelings in words at such a young age. He could tell me if he was sad, happy, scared or mad. When he started telling me his feelings barely at toddler stage I was surprised. He had taken my phone a few days ago and hid with it. He started taking pictures of himself with different expressions on his face. There were WAAAYYY more shots than this on my phone but I wanted to share a few of them. Cracks me up!

Starting 2013

The first week of 2013 has been a good one for us. Slowly easing us in I suppose. Nothing too hectic or crazy. Just every day living at it's best!  Tyler was given mostly Thomas the Train sets for Christmas. Jaime helped set them all up together a couple days after Christmas. The kids loved it. We let them stay up the remainder of the Holiday Break. We went to visit friends on Thursday the 3rd. Tyler and Carson are big super hero fans.  Tyler says, "Hulk mash!" Playing limbo We had to cut the visit short when Aidan threw up a little bit. Poor kid slept most of the time on my lap. He kept telling me he was tired. And boy was he ever. We had so many late nights and so many fun, busy days  that he was so worn out. The rest of the kids weren't ready to leave. The dads and kids had just started a game of dodgeball at the church when I called Jaime to let him know Aidan needed to go home. We got home at 5:30, Aidan went straight to bed, slept till 8
