First Day of School 2016-2017 School Year

Image
Lindsey's first day of 7th Grade. With last year the first year the district moved 6th grade down to the elementary schools Lindsey stayed in elementary last year (which is why she was able to be in Jaime's school last year. Best decision we made for her for 6th grade.) so today is her first day in middle school. She's had her tour of the school. She's got her schedule. She's had volleyball practice the past week so she's now excited to start school with her friends she's been talking to at practice. She's a bit nervous about changing classes but I know she will catch on quick. Plus, the 8th graders don't attend school today so the 7th graders have the school to themselves to help get adjusted. I do like that. It's the same for freshman at the high schools too. Lindsey catches the bus at 6:49am. She set her alarm for 5:45. She's not the fastest at getting ready. We're hoping she won't need to wake up till 6 once she gets her ro

Fair Time!

Image
Lori and Stuart went to the fair with us this year. We mostly go for the rodeo but we walked around and saw the exhibits and of course ate fair food for dinner. :P This picture was taken outside of the restaurant "Cousins" but they have these at the fair too so I thought I'd share it in this post.  We can't go to the fair and not see the animals, especially the bunnies. Look at this long haired bunny! Tyler thought he was so cute.  We don't do rides at the fair because they're so expensive but this giant float ball ride is one that's pretty fun. We like to watch them as much as the kids like rolling around like little gerbils. Sometimes when they fall like this I just wait to see them get wet but they never do! Lori pushing Tyler She got a kick out of pushing and pulling the hamster balls around the pool. :) Time for the rodeo! I didn't take pictures of the riders and bulls because I was busy talking wi

Surprise Mariners Trip!

Image
Jaime's parents asked to have the kids over night for the weekend to spend some time with them. Because Marty and Diana drove Marcus down to Albuquerque they didn't get to go to the Oregon Coast and take the kids with them. The kids were bummed, especially Lindsey. We were surprised to get a couple pictures like this... And this... and a text from Diana saying "We're off to the Mariners game!" We didn't even know they had planned this. They drove up and spent all day at Safeco Field. I guess there's lots to do before the game. I didn't know that, I've never been to a pro baseball game...come to think of it I've never been to a pro anything game. It was Star Wars day so the kids got pictures with the different Star Wars characters and of course the Mariner Moose.  And everyone was given free Felix Hernandez shirts. After the game they stayed the night at a hotel. I was glad about that because I was thinking how tired every

Helping Mom

Image
Olivia likes to help in the kitchen...if it's something fun like bread or cookies. :) I was grateful she was in the helping mood because later today we went to pick peaches.  The kids were eager to help. I grew up picking produce with my family. Apples, cherries, peaches. Dad usually had clients who had orchards and let us get some fruit if they were done with harvest or it wasn't a big enough harvest to pay to have pickers come. Picking today was a first for my kids.  This isn't something we will probably to every year but it was fun to do this with them. And while they're happy to do it I think I'll take advantage of that. :)

Aidan's Photo Shoot

Image
Aidan is turning 8 soon! My friend Sarah has her own photography business and always is willing to take my kids' photos. She does a great job. I love Aidan's pictures.  These two pictures actually say a lot of what Aidan is like. He truly loves his scriptures. He likes to read in both English and Spanish. He doesn't understand all that he reads in Spanish, not that he understands all the big words in English either, but he still reads them.  Such a stud in his suit. His smile in the picture on the left is my favorite.  Aidan, you are such a wonderful example of kindness, obedience, and following our Savior. You are going to be a great missionary. I love you!

Hanging With Family

Image
Marcus is back from Chicago but now headed off to New Mexico. We had a family get together to spend time with him before he left.  After everyone left we went out to run some errands. It was free root beer float day so we decided it'd be fun to go out to eat and get free floata at KFC/A&W. Lindsey and Olivia, so happy :)

Date Night

Image
We went out to dinner tonight with Brandon and Sarah Ritchie and Shane and Lyndee Ririe. We tried for the first time going to Natties Lil' Red Caboose restaurant. When Sarah chose the restaurant she didn't know we needed to have reservations. When we got there they said we could sit out on the patio for dinner. We decided to do that. It was pretty hot outside but the guys braved it. Us girls seem to handle heat better, but then the cold we don't.  Had to get some pictures. Why we didn't get a group photo I don't know. But we enjoyed visiting and trying new food.  Jaime and I aren't weekly date night people. We don't need it. Being at home visiting for free and spending time with one another is more our style. But when we do go out, it seems more like a treat for us. Something real special.

Tennis Camp

Image
I signed Lindsey and Olivia up for a tennis camp this summer. Practices were held at Howard Ammon Park on the river. While the girls were in practice the boys played on the playground.  The kids liked the river boat. We had to snap a picture with the girls before they ran over to practice.  Sea saws aren't made like they used to be. ;) This one is fun for me to play on too. Aidan had to really lean his bum out to get Tyler up. Tyler's favorite toy is the zipline. He'd run back and forth flying in that thing when he had it to himself before other kids started showing up to the park. The boat was there another day during this week.  Guess I should get a few pictures of the girls at practice. ;P  Lindsey really enjoyed the camp. She's in the blue about to hit the ball. I think this may be the sport she really puts effort in to. I'm hoping she will like other sports as she tries more.  Aidan enjoyed rock climbing.
