Closer to Normal

It's the first day of high school in person for this awesome freshman! She's excited and nervous. School isn't every day in person yet. They split all the students in the district up into cohorts. A and B. They go two times a week. It's not regular school by any means but the kids are all so happy to be attending school in person. They've all said it's so much better. Everyone is tired of attending classes online via zoom. Our kids are all in the B cohort.  Luckily, Olivia has friends in the A cohort who have already gone so they've told her what to expect. I know she will love high school and before I know it I'll be posting her senior pictures! Masks are still required for school. There's no light at the end of this tunnel. It's now sold as an accessory in every store. You can buy masks to coordinate with your outfit. I know the kids miss seeing each others faces. We can communicate a lot with a smile. I look forward to the day my kids can go to

Olivia Livia...Happy Birthday

Image
Olivia turns 15 today! She's half way to 30. Whoa! She has grown and matured a lot this past year. She's been so responsible at making sure she stayed on top of her schooling during this time of Covid. She gets her assignments done, attends her zoom classes, and is diligent and studying and getting work done all on her own. She's a high schooler who has never attended class at her school. Her first of in person school is Thursday. Olivia loves to be in contact with friends either via text or in person. She's missed the social interaction that was lost this last year. She's good at keeping her siblings in line and has grown to be a reasonable thinker. She's funny as all get out. I love just chatting with her and soaking up her sense of humor and sarcasm. This girl is missed when she's not around. I love her so much. I feel like everyone should know her.  She requested crepes for her birthday. They were delicious!  Must be something good! She's been wantin

Aidan's First Day of In Person School!

Image
Aidan's first time setting foot in the middle school today. He's nervous but also excited. I hate that everyone is still in masks. Seems like it'll never end. He's got to wake up so early now! I struggle with the idea that he's in middle school. He's still little but he's grown so much this past year.

Valentine's Day

Image
This received Valentine's in the mail from their cousins Makaela and Elise. It was a sweet and cute surprise,  Our tradition, I make a fun valentine dinner for the family. We celebrated a day late since Jaime and I were gone for Valentines Day coming home from our Florida trip.  Generally it's a surprise for them what the dinner or theme will be but this year I asked what they'd like. Fondue was the unanimous choice.  Cheese fondue for vegetables and meats and chocolate for fruit and angel food cake.  I'll admit this is one of my favorite things we've done for Valentine's Day as well. :)

Florida...Beautiful but not always warm

February 10-14 Jaime and I took at trip to Destin, Florida with Sarah and Brandon.  We had a layover in Denver. Flying over the mountains was so beautiful. We ended up having a longer lay over than planned. We got to our hotel so late at night that we didn't even get to see the beach because it was so dark. The drive from the airport to our hotel was longer than it should have been due to the misty fog. Jaime called the hotel and talked to the front desk. The man said they'd be waiting for us and to drive safely.  Upon arrival we got into our suites. We stayed at the adult bed and breakfast of the hotel. The room wasn't extremely large, the bathroom was  quite small but we were right on the the beach. We were able to have the doors to the balcony open all night and hear the waves.  It's the details that I like about nice hotels and bed and breakfasts. The view when we first woke up! Absolutely beautiful!! The main resort was so spacious and grand feeling. I could have b
