Fun with Grandparents

Image
Last year my kids didn't get to spend very much time with my parents during the summer. So this year mom asked if she could have my kids for a week. Now that they're getting older it's easier for me to leave them over night for longer periods of time. No diapers or potty training needed to be done for my mom. They're more independent now so my mom and dad get to actually spend fun time with my kids and not just babysitting them; making sure they're not getting in to cupboards or sewing stuff. hahaha.  Mom is always so sweet to do fun things for when the kids come. She made fun little sandwiches and made a cute luncheon for the kids and their dolls. Of course the boys don't have dolls but they like the different menu options and the fact that it's something out of the norm lets them know it's special.  The famous "Dumb Dinner" is being shared. Pat and Bill Flory would have them for my family every year when I was younger.  Th

Adoption Day!!

We drove to Yakima today to support Elizabeth and John as they were able to finally legally adopt James and Malachi.  And with Elizabeth's little girl due in September their family will grow from 2 to 5. How great is that.  Dad, the awesome guy that he is, bought us all lunch afterwards. Dave, Chris, Jessica, and Jazzi happened to be in town for the wonderful event. It also happened to be John's birthday! We sang Happy Birthday to him as he wore the sombrero and was treated to a yummy ice cream sundae.

Warrior Dash and My Warrior

This was one of the reasons we only camped for one night. Lindsey really wanted to do the Warrior Dash for mutual on Tuesday evening. It's a muddy obstacle course made by a family in our ward. They set it up every year on their farm land. All the youth look forward to it every year.  Lindsey is on the top row last one on the right.  Lindsey loved it. Getting all muddy and sandy didn't seem to hinder her participation at all. She dove right in that muddy water and army crawled, jumped and climbed over things and slid down the water slide.  And on a side note of what we do around here... Jaime was testing our soil so he could know what it needed to help out the grass. He's pretty specific on how he wants his grass to look. I like that he wants it to look nice. :) Lindsey and Aidan wanted to help mix the chemicals with the soil in the little test tubes. Right up their alley really.

Camping

Because we put in new floors in our house we didn't plan a big summer trip or plan lots of little trips. The month was going by so fast and so many things planned that we didn't have time to make a long camping trip but we were able to squeeze in a short over night camping trip. It ended up being long enough for me. hahaha Olivia helped with dinner. She's cutting up tomatoes for our walking taco dinner.  There was no running water!! The bathrooms were converted into permanent out houses so the sinks and faucets and flushing toilets were gone. The spigots that had the running water for cooking were gone. We couldn't believe it. It wasn't until we were leaving the next afternoon that Jaime asked a park host and they said the park's water lines were so old they had to do away with them and it was too costly to fix them. There will be new water spigots for cooking and cleaning though. They just weren't working yet. We did see them later covered with bla

Mariners Baseball!

On July 7th we headed to Seattle again. This time we caught a Mariner game with the kids and Bel and Chris.  We stopped for lunch at Subway on the way to Seattle. We knew we wanted to drive straight to the field and didn't want to stop anywhere to eat there in crazy traffic town.  We had to wit for the gates to open before we could go in so we killed some time by shopping in the game store and seeing the fun sculptures around the stadium.  When we got in we couldn't go to the upper decks yet so we stayed downstairs and watched as they prepped the field for the game.  Tyler is my little buddy. If anyone can make me want to pull my hair out it's him. Yet he's the most cuddly, loving, and endearing little boy! I really do miss him when he's not with me.  I really enjoy being at Safeco field more than I thought I would. The atmosphere is so fun. There are so many people walking around just making sure you have what you need. They hand ou
