Ouch!
We rented a small car to drive to Rexburg to save on gas and wear and tear on our car. We stopped in Hermiston to pick up our car that was parked at Bel's house before dropping off the rental there in Hermiston. Bel and Chris weren't home but that was ok because we were just picking up the car.
When we got there Chris's mom just pulled up at the same time to check on their dog Mako and water plants. She asked if anyone wanted to go in to use the bathroom. Tyler said he wanted to go in and drop off some comic books he had borrowed from Chris. He went in while we were moving our things from the rental car to our car. Minutes later he came out to me and said Mako jumped up at him and accidentally head butted him and asked the cut on his lip was bad.
I looked at it and asked "Did he bite you!" He said he didn't think so. As he was talking his lip kept bursting open and I said it looked like it'd need stitches. I asked him again if he was bit. He was afraid to say yes because he didn't want to get Mako in trouble because he'd bit another teenage boy in the mouth who ended up with stitches as well. As Tyler told me what happened he was shaking. The adrenaline running through him causing the reaction. He was so shocked when it happened he dropped his phone and went out of the house not even leaving the books behind.
You can see right under the nose where a tooth poked, and the chin where a bottom tooth got him then when the mouth closed down the teeth connected and sliced through his lip.
We stopped at urgent care in Pasco so he could get it checked out. I was right, stitches were needed. Poor baby. Had a shot to numb his mouth but I know those shots hurt. He helped Jaime's arm to squeeze as the pain surged through.
Three stitches. The dr did say we could take him to the ER where a plastic surgeon would be able to stitch it better and make sure the lip line lines up but Tyler didn't want to go do that. He wanted it over with. However, it looks like this doctor did a good job stitching it and aligning both sides of the lip to keep the line even. We will see how it looks as it heals. Hopefully in the years to come it'll fade enough it'll barely be noticeable.
