Parks are easy entertainment

Image
Tonight I took the kids for dinner at a park in Kennewick. It was a good change of scenery and fun to do something different. The kids had a great time playing and burning off energy and I sat in the cool breeze and enjoyed watching my kids have a good time playing together and with other kids. It was a great way to end this week of 'days without Jaime' while he's been out of town for work.

Father's Day 2012

Image
Jaime's parents wanted the kids for the weekend of Father's Day. Jaime thought that was a great Father's Day gift and so did his dad. :) We were able to go on a date Friday night. Had dinner and saw a movie! It's nice being able to go out and not have to worry about getting back to kids or a sitter by a certain time.  We got rid of our BBQ grill when our stuff was put in to storage while our house was being built. We've made it over a year in our new house without a grill so it was definitely due to get Jaime a new one and Father's Day is the perfect time and he deserves it! Jaime, you're a wonderful father to our kids. They adore you. I adore you! I appreciate all you do to help me and our kids. You're amazing and just perfect for us. :)  Happy Father's Day, Jaime. I love you.

Fun summer things we like to do

Image
I love it when kids enjoy simple summer activities. The kids have been great for me while we have to do some shopping and then we get to go to the parks, splash pad, ride bikes, and the free movies at the theater. When they have a good time it makes me happy. :) When we were at the theater Aidan kept saying, "this is awesome!" as we were walking down the long hallway. Sometimes the simplest things to us are magnificent to the little ones. Tyler likes to look at the water. Aidan can't get in the water enough! We took a bike ride around the park. Aidan made good time riding from our house to the park. My boys LOVE to swing. Tyler always calls for me to give him a "hot dog." Translation, an "underdog" push so he goes REAL high! The girls wanted to try the baby swings. Swinging some more. "I'm flying!"  This afternoon the kids put on winter beanies and played Marco

Marriage pro? Me?

I wrote this a couple weeks ago....guess I'll post it now. :) Last night the 1st counselor of the bishopric came by to visit with Jaime and I. We figured it was about a new calling but I couldn't have prepared myself for this. He asked Jaime and I if we'd team teach the marriage and family relations class. Us?! Me!?! That was my thinking. Jaime gladly accepted. I on the other hand was dumbfounded...good term considering I feel rather dumb and inexperienced to teach this. We attended the class ourselves and thought the couple teaching was great. Everyone did! They've been married a long time and have grown up kids with families of their own. This couple could give examples and experiences from their lives involving young childten, teenagers, and life as empty nesters. They have years of experience, not only as parents but also at teaching. He's been a bishop and stake president. Jaime and I have barely been married for 9 1/2 years. I'm not sure how well I can t

Summer Break is Here!

Finally the kids are on summer break because they had so many snow days to make up at the end of the year in June. I'm happy to hear that the district will work snow days in to the actual school year rather than tack them on at the end of the year this next school year. The kids are excited for school to be out for the summer. To be honest, me too. I like being able to not have to rush and make sure the girls are getting ready. Now they can get up and take their time getting dressed AFTER breakfast. I usually get up around 6:30 or 7 to exercise before I get the kids breakfast. But this past week I haven't started my exercises till around 8 or 9! So now the summer fun can begin as we enjoy the warmer weather. Aidan and Olivia swimming at Grandma's. Olivia looks like a little fish as she keeps going under water. Aidan is trying to get brave and put his face in the water. He'll get there. He can get up to his mouth and nose in. Tyler loves the
