For the Love of Pigs

Lindsey has a stuffed pig that she got for her first Christmas from Great-grandma Naylor. He's been named Oink. She still has it and loves it just as much. Because it's such a beloved stuffed animal you can imagine how less fluffy and scraggly he looks. Well one day I went to lunch with Mom and Dad at a local restaurant. In the waiting area is a small gift shop. Mom and I saw this cute pig and couldn't believe how close he resembled Oink! Same size and shape even. So we put our money together and bought the pig for a special time to give to Lindsey.

The time we decided to give him to her was when she got the phone call that she didn't get the part of a local play that she had auditioned for. She has never been in a play before so I was so impressed with her ambition to try something new and scary like this. But the news was depressing and heartbreaking for her. I felt it was a good time to give her a little "pig-me-up."

Her tears turned into sweet loving tears of joy. She loved him immediately. Lindsey has such a soft heart. She's strong when she needs to be, like standing up in front of a group of people to audition for a play, but then is soft and cuddly when she needs some love and reassurance. She's such a sweet girl and I'm blessed she's mine.
