Wrapping up Her Last Season of Wrestling

We got the girls' pictures from their senior photo shoot.

Tamina, Brynnlee, Olivia, Georgia

They're such a cute group. I loved seeing their pictures.

Olivia and Brynlee...they're a good pair of friends.

Such a beauty!

Got the pictures in and posters made just in time for Senior Night!

Now she has a life size poster of her for softball and wrestling! Ha!

Olivia separated her shoulder just 5 days ago at practice. I actually blame the coach. He had her wrestle "live" with a girl who is 20 pounds heavier than her. There's a reason there's weight classes. It's one thing to do drills or show how to do moves when they weigh differently but to go full out in a match with that large of a difference is so wrong. And the girl she was wrestling with is a lot more seasoned in the sport. So when she went down on her arm it she immediately felt the pain. We were luckily able to get in to the orthopedist within the week to where he confirmed our thoughts. She'd be in a sling for 3 weeks until she goes back for her follow up.

So on her last match of the season she had to sit out. Senior night of course. But everyone did a great job of supporting Liv and showing her she's part of the team.

All the seniors went out to shake hands with the captains and get the duel started.

Olivia was the first senior to retire her shoes. Then after each senior, girls and boys, finished their match they went and placed their shoes beside hers.

It almost brought tears to my eyes just seeing them lined up there. Thinking how each one must feel. How they have such a great camaraderie of teammates and family.

I love this shot Amy got of Olivia helping to coach from the sidelines. This girl truly loved this sport and the girls she was with.

Dawn and Mia came to support Olivia and bring her sweet gifts even though she wasn't going to be wrestling. (My parents came as well but I didn't get a picture with them. 😕) I sure appreciated everyone's love and support of my girl.

What a season these young women had.

I'm proud of this girl more than she knows. As hard as it was for me to watch her through the weight cutting, bruises, black eyes, disappointments, and struggles...I'm still so impressed that she wanted to wrestle so late in her school career. For someone never having done anything like it, she took to it well and ended up loving it. She stuck with it, showed determination, and gave it her all.
