Starting the New Year

The kids were able to go back to school after Christmas break on Monday the third. Then the snow came. So Tuesday was a two hour delay. Wednesday was a two hour delay that turned into a canceled school day.  Wednesday evening it snowed and snowed all night and in to Thursday afternoon. Needless to say Thursday school was canceled as well. Then almost as fast as the snow piles came in they were blown away by the warmer Chinook winds. Today it warmed up to 40+ degrees with a strong wind that melted the streets and lots of snow off of yards. It was pretty while it lasted but we didn't even go play in it. The kids aren't really in to playing in the snow unless they were with friends and going somewhere to sled or something. We pretty much just stayed inside and kept warm. Just enjoying the extended Christmas break.

On Monday Olivia, Aidan, and Tyler went out to shovel the driveway. (Lindsey was working.) They did a great job and on their own went to shovel the neighbor's (Walker's) driveway. She sent her daughter out with three $5 bills for each of them. Tyler took it, looked at the money then said to Olivia, we should give it back huh. Olivia said yes. So Tyler walked back up to the house and handed the money back. Kaitlin texted me later that night saying that I have great kids. She appreciated them shoveling the snow.

Tuesday morning, my view while taking Olivia to school.

The delay was definitely necessary as everyone had to take their time and be cautious.

On Wednesday Jaime and I went to Costco around 3:30. The snow was just starting to stick for another round. We debated going to Costco but ended up going. We got in and out fairly quickly, gassed up the car and at 4:30 we headed home. It was snowing so hard and building up on the roads already that traffic was going soooo slowww.

We couldn't pass cars too easily because everyone was going slow so we couldn't get around them So we were driving about 10-15 mph on the freeway and even slower trying to get on the interchange to the freeway to go towards Pasco.
It took us an hour to get home! I'm so grateful we made it though. Driveway was cleared when we left. We got home and already had a few inches built up. I was ok with the school closure on Thursday.
